Custom Pet Portrait Quilts

Jan has added a few new items to her work. She saw a pattern for scarves in a magazine and decided to adapt it for quilting. She also had a friend ask her if she could make fitted mattress covers for her dog's beds.

Sweet and Sinister Pastry Shop Jan created this patch to sew on the chef's jacket of her friend and neighbor, Rhonda. Jan holds Rhonda personally responsible for half of her extra pounds, due to the wonderful treats she showers on Jan. She is, indeed, Sweet and Sinister!
Jan created this custom Christmas Tree skirt for her son Josh, and his fiancee, Adrienne. Its a square skirt, with the words "Live", "Laugh", "Love" and Josh's last name, "Frost" appliqued, one word per side. Everything you see against the green was cut out and appliqued by machine as well. Dimensions - 62" square	Dogwood Blossoms - Jan created this for the "Art in Bloom" event in downtown Fitchburg, MA. Land of the Free - Miniature landscape quilt for silent auction at "Off the Wall" events at Rollstone Studios in Fitchburg, MA., 12/11/09. Jan created this small wall hanging using a paper pieced fishbowl pattern in the center, and tropical fish paper pieced patterns surrounding that. The fish in the bowl must surely be dreaming of the ocean, and the fish on the outside are the fish enjoying the ocean in their dreams!! Jan based her WILD Flowers quilt on a greeting card she found and loved. She contacted the watercolor artist, Bambi Papais, and obtained permission to use this Fiesta Tulip image as the focal point of this quilt. Jan embellished the quilt with many 3-D flowers and many crystals!! Dimensions - 32" wide x 42½" high	Fiesta Tulip Card, by the watercolor artist, Bambi Papais.
Jan created this quilt to take to Russia as a gift for Roza and Vladimir, the parents of Jan's new (as of 6/27/09) daughter-in-law, Liliya. Dimensions - 35¼ W x 39½ H	Jan made this quilt to donate to a cancer patient at a local hospital. She and some of her guild friends recently made plans to attempt to work together one Friday per month on cutting and piecing a "cancer quilt". Then Jan and Kathryn will quilt and Nancy will then bind them. We hope! Jan's friend Diane was a cancer patient at this hospital and lost her battle in July 2008. She has left a very large hole in the hearts of a great many people. Dimensions - 55" W x 65" H
Jan created this quilt for an art exhibit themed "H20". Dimensions - 23": H x 33" W	Woven Pond. Jan created this piece for an art exhibit of the Central Mass. Women's Caucus for Art. This exhibit will be in Fitchburg, MA Access Television Station from November 2008 - January 2009. Dimensions - 35" W x 33" H
Jan's quilt guild's summer challenge was the Wizard of Oz. She was inspired by some photos she found doing a computer search for Wizard of Oz photos. Closeups show more detail. Jan's quilt guild voted this quilt the 3rd best from the entries for this summer 2008 challenge. Dimensions - 37¼" W x 31¼" H	Jan used photos from the movie again to create this 4-portrait, diamond-shaped quilt. Dimensions - 36" square/diamond
Jan made this theme quilt for the annual quilt challenge of her Material Girls quilt guild of Leonminster, MA. The theme is "My Secret Garden" and the measurement of the 4 sides cannot exceed 125". This is based on the photo shown, which was going around the internet/emails, and Jan thought fit this theme! Dimensions - 17½" x 19"	Photo of the image used for the basis of this quilt
This is Jan's first "Artist Trading Card" created as part of a trading card group in her Women's Caucus for Art. Any art medium can be used. Jan used fabric for her first. The theme is "Intimate Spaces". Dimensions - 2½" x 3½"	Jan made these 4 placemats using leftover scraps from a large 2-Border Collie wall hanging she is making. The one on the upper right didn't piece/fit together perfectly, but she didn't want to waste the scraps!!

Jan made these two 64" long winter scarves (featuring dogs, and Rotties predominantly) for Sue in NJ. She is keeping one and giving another as a gift.
Jan made these two green and purple scarves as an experiment. She gave one to her twin sister, and decided to use the one with purple fringe as a table runner in her living room, which is green with purple accents!

Jan made these two baby mattress covers for Sue in NJ, for the mattress on which her 4 Rotties take turns sleeping!! She made matching teddy bears as well.
