Jan created this quilt as part of the Charity Challenge portion of the Machine Quilter's Exposition (MQX), an annual quilt show, this year in Manchester, NH from 4/16 to 4/18. Its title is Heart and Home. Entrants must purchase this specific fabric, which was donated, and the proceeds from that purchase all went to the NHSPCA. Entrants could create any type of quilt within certain dimensions. This quilt garnered Jan a 3rd place ribbon at MQX 2009's quilt show and is currently at the Vermont Quilt Festival which runs 6/19/09 to 6/21/09. Jan was awarded a 3rd place ribbon at the Vermont Quilt Show also!! It had also been juried into the Lowell (MA) Quilt Festival, "Images 2009" which took place August 6-9, 2009.

Jan was asked by the Gardner, MA Animal Control Officer if she would create a quilt for the shelter to raffle, in order to raise much needed funds for the animals they rescue and rehome. All of the animals depicted in the quilt spent time in the shelter and were successfully adopted into loving homes.

Toody the cat
|
Jan created this for Janet, the 2007 high bidder of the Save A Dog auction. Jan wasn't late - Janet didn't contact Jan for 13 months!! Janet had Jan make this as a gift for her friend, Lorraine, of her late cat Toody, who was a special needs kitty. Lorraine wishes Toody could have stayed with her longer.
Dimensions - 15¾" W x 17¼" H.
Fundraiser Donation.
Jan met Janet at Save A Dog to hand-deliver her quilt.
Janet learned, after Jan completed the quilt and delivered it, that she was spelling the name of the cat incorrectly. Jan tore out the wrong letters and replaced them, so now Tootie is, correctly, Toody!!! |

Jan donated this cat portrait to Kitty Angels for a fundraiser. Its based on a picture she saw in a quilt catalogue.

Kreshe relaxing
Kreshe died in her sleep at the age of 20 on Sat. 6/20/09. She had a long, wonderful life with Jennifer, Ken and Bubba and they will all miss her so. She was such a fighter, but just became too tired. |

Ken and Bubba relaxing |
Ken, Bubba and Kresha relaxing on the Love Seat. Jan actually went to Ken's home and took the photos from which she worked. Bubba is a 102 pound lovebug of a Pit Bull, Kreshe is an extremely senior feline citizen who enjoys napping with her "boys". Ken and his wife Jennifer adopted Bubba from Pittie Love Rescue in Massachusetts. Jan and her husband, Mark, actually adopted their Lola from the same hardworking rescue group!! Small world.
